Thomas Grube founded his first production company at the age of 22 and produced a short film based on a novella by Tankred Dorst as well as a comprehensive documentary of the Love Parade 1994. At the same time, he began to study American Studies and Political Science at the Free University of Berlin before studying "Film and Television Economics" at the HFF Konrad Wolf in Potsdam-Babelsberg.
Together with Uwe Dierks, Grube founded the company "grube&dierks" in 1997. Two years later, both founded the production company BOOMTOWN MEDIA in Berlin together with journalist Andrea Thilo, where Thomas Grube has been director and producer ever since.
His films have received numerous awards, including two German Film Awards, the Bavarian Film Award, two German Camera Awards, the German Editing Award, two Cinema Guild Awards, the Grand Prix Golden Prague and two Echo Awards, among many other national and international accolades.
Thomas Grube is a member of the German Film Academy.
